AJIA–National Academy of Medicine Think Tank

September 9, 2025

The AJIA–National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Think Tank convened leaders from academia, healthcare, industry, and research to discuss the future of the physician-scientist workforce. Participants explored challenges facing early-career investigators, identified opportunities to strengthen the research pipeline, and developed recommendations focused on mentorship, funding, workforce development, and career advancement.

The Think Tank served as a catalyst for ongoing discussions and initiatives designed to support the next generation of physician-scientists and research leaders.

West Coast Regional Meeting

March 10, 2026 | Stanford University

AJIA hosted its West Coast Regional Meeting at Stanford University, bringing together early-career investigators, physician-scientists, trainees, and research leaders for an afternoon of education, collaboration, and mentorship.

Program highlights included:

  • Keynote presentations from leaders in science and innovation
  • Discussions on artificial intelligence in biomedical research
  • Insights from the AJIA–NAM Think Tank
  • Career development programming, including "How to Start a Lab"
  • Poster presentations and trainee lightning talks

AJIA Annual Meeting

The AJIA Annual Meeting brought together members, supporters, and leaders from across the physician-scientist community to reflect on AJIA's growth and discuss priorities for the future.

The program featured updates on AJIA initiatives, opportunities for member engagement, networking with fellow investigators, and discussions focused on strengthening support for early-career researchers. The Annual Meeting reinforced AJIA's commitment to advocacy, mentorship, professional development, and advancing the physician-scientist workforce.

America's Got Research (AGR)

June 2, 2026 | Yale Club of New York City

America's Got Research is AJIA's premier research showcase and fundraising event, highlighting some of the nation's most promising early-career investigators and physician-scientists. Hosted at the historic Yale Club in New York City, AGR brings together researchers, academic leaders, industry executives, philanthropists, venture capitalists, and supporters of biomedical innovation for an evening dedicated to scientific discovery.

Selected finalists present their research before a distinguished panel of judges and a live audience, competing for recognition while receiving valuable feedback from leaders in medicine, biotechnology, venture capital, and research funding.

Event highlights included:

  • Five-minute rapid-fire research presentations
  • Live judge feedback and audience engagement
  • Networking with leaders from academia, industry, and philanthropy
  • Recognition of outstanding early-career investigators
  • Fundraising to support AJIA's mission and future programming
